Meet the Staff

Greetings,
It is our pleasure to introduce ourselves to you. We are your new veterinarians at Shoreline Animal Hospital. We are looking forward to continuing to provide the excellent medical care and friendly, family atmosphere you have enjoyed over the last 3 years. We pride ourselves in being ethical, communicative and compassionate. We hope to not just meet your needs, but to exceed your expectations. We are pleased that the entire staff of Shoreline Animal Hospital will be staying on with us to continue to assist you in making the best healthcare choices for the pets you love. We are eager to get to know you and your pets. Let's begin to build a lasting relationship together. Please feel welcome to call or visit us at the office to introduce yourself or discuss any concerns you may have. Dr. Julie Berman

Dr. Berman has been a Killingworth resident for 13 years. She was raised in Long Island and attended Princeton University. She graduated with honors from Tufts University Veterinary School in 1991 and has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery in CT for 15 years. For the past 5 years she has been located in Essex and has worked there with Dr. West for the last 3 years. Dr. Berman has 2 children, dogs, horses, chickens, fish and any other critters her son brings home.

Dr. Michelle West

Dr. West has been a Killingworth resident for 11 years and grew up locally in Madison. She attended Mount Holyoke College and completed her veterinary degree with honors at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. After graduating she entered an equine internship at an equine hospital in Wisconsin. She then returned to CT where she first worked in an equine practice in Portland for 2 years. Since then she has worked exclusively in small animal practices in Chester, Madison and Essex. Dr. West has 3 children and a dog for each.

Alicja (Ala)

Ala is the Head Veterinary Technician here at Shoreline Animal Hospital. She has worked in the veterinary field all of her adult life and has a passion for turtles. She has many years of training and education making her a very well rounded technician. You can be assured that your pet will be well taken care of by highly trained and knowledgeable staff at Shoreline Animal Hospital.

Christie

Christie is a dedicated Veterinary Technician who graduated in May 2007 from the Veterinary Technology Program at Northwestern Community College in Winsted. She currently is anxiously awaiting her certification exam results. Christie also acts as our handyman, interior decorator, and IT person for the hospital, always trying to make us run better and smoother.

Jeri

Jeri is an important part of our veterinary support staff. She is a joy to be around and keeps the entire staff in a good mood, especially on the not so good days. Jeri moved here to the area from Keene, NH in 2006. She has worked as a veterinary technician in Western MA for many years and she is dedicated to high quality veterinary care. Her free time is spent with her beagle, Lucy.

Robin

Robin is a part of our veterinary support staff here at Shoreline animal Hospital. She has many years of experience and has been working as a veterinary receptionist since 2000. Robin has been an animal lover her entire life and has owned horses, chickens, cats, dogs,and a raccoon, among others. She currently has a dog, Dakota and a rabbit.

Kate

Kate is a Veterinary Technician here at Shoreline Animal Hospital. She has worked in the veterinary field for 20 years. Kate spent 15 years living out west where she also worked with wildlife and as a white water rafting guide. She has 2 beautiful children and spends her spare time taking care of her 6 cats and relaxing on her boat with her husband.

Christine

Christine is the newest addition to our team. In 2004, she graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at Northwestern Connecticut Community College and received her certification. Christine and her husband spend their spare time restoring their house with their 3 cats and dog, Gryffin.
